Castle Lager Home Grown Promotional Competition Rules

750ml RB - Prepaid Airtime & Cash Prizes

  1. This promotional competition (“Competition”) is run by The South African Breweries (Pty) Limited (“Promoter”) and is open to all persons of 18 years or older and resident in South Africa, except the employees and their immediate families of the Promoter, the Promoter’s advertising and promotion agencies, associated companies, and outlet owners and staff.

  2. These rules may be amended by notification at any time during the Competition, and will be interpreted by the Promoter only. Participation by all entrants (“Participants”) constitutes acceptance of these rules.

  3. These Competition rules and any amendments thereto, will be interpreted by the Promoter only. Participation by all entrants (“Participants”) constitutes acceptance of these Competition rules.

  4. The Competition starts on 26 November 2018 and ends on 31 December 2018 (“Competition Period”).

  5. The Prizes:


    5.1 R10 Prepaid Airtime (5 unique entries)


    To enter: Participants must purchase 5 x Castle Lager 750ml Home Grown promotional packs to share , at a participating outlet during the Competition Period, to receive a random unique code on each crown under liner. Participants must enter via USSD *120*1895*unique code# to redeem airtime (up to R35 million). Each 750ml promo pack purchased will contribute R2 to the total prepaid airtime prize of R10. Only once a Participant has entered 5 times with 5 unique codes from the same cellphone number (i.e. completed an entry), will he/she be eligible to win R10 in prepaid airtime. Airtime can only be claimed in increments of R10 (after each completed entry with 5 different unique codes). USSD network data costs 20c/20 seconds.


    Prize Notification and redemption of prepaid airtime: If the Participant has won prepaid airtime, the Participant will receive an sms requesting the Participant to choose a prepaid cell number that Participant wants to top up with the prepaid airtime they have won. The Participant may choose his/her own prepaid number to be topped up or that of somebody else;


    I. *Please note that the prepaid number chosen must be on a South African cellphone network;


    II. *Virgin Mobile numbers will not be able to be topped up. All other S.A. network operator numbers will be eligible to be topped up;


    III. Contract and Virgin Mobile subscribers


    IV. The prizes cannot be transferred or exchanged for their cash value.


    5.2 R100,000.00 Weekly Cash Prize (8 unique ingredient codes)


    The second available prize is to stand a chance to win R100 000.00 cash at the end of each of the 5 weeks during the competition period. Only once the participant has collected and entered all 8 unique ingredient codes from the same cellphone number, will he/she be eligible to be entered into the weekly cash prize draw commencing Monday 3 December. Each Unique Code on the underliners of each Castle Lager Home Grown 750ml promo packs purchased will be linked to a specific Home-grown ingredient. This is advertised on the Castle Lager 750ml promo pack labels.


    To Enter: for a weekly cash prize draw, Participants must purchase 8 Castle Lager Home Grown 750ml promotional packs to share, at a participating outlet during the competition period, to receive a random unique code on the under liner. Once the RUC has been entered via (USSD *120*1895*unique code#) an SMS will be sent to the participant, stating which ingredient the RUC code is linked to. Participants must have collected and entered all 8 different ingredient codes from the same cellphone number in order to stand a chance to win R100 000.00 in the weekly cash prize draw. USSD network data costs 20c/20 seconds. Only one cellphone number may be linked to the 8 unique ingredient codes in order to constitute a completed entry. Each Participant may not win more than one cash prize in this Competition. Each weekly draw will be from those eligible entrants who have completed 8 “homegrown ingredient” code entries from the same cellphone number, within that particular week (i.e. since the previous weekly draw).


    The above steps and all instructions via the USSD must be completed for each unique code, in order for the submission to be considered an entry and to qualify for entry into the random draws. No late or incomplete entries will be considered. Entries not completed fully or properly will be disqualified. Promoter does not take any responsibility or liability for entries not completed fully, incorrectly completed, lost, delayed or not received for any reason whatsoever. Proof of submission will not be accepted as proof of receipt. No applications from agents, third parties, organized groups or applications automatically generated by computer will be accepted. Entries will only be accepted if they comply with all entry instructions.


    All entries will be audited and Promoter reserves the right to remove and disqualify any entry it deems to be not eligible/valid/legal.


    Prize Notification and Redemption of one of Five (5) weekly R100,000.00 Cash Prize Draws.


    a. Five (5) separate individual winners will be selected weekly on a Monday commencing Monday 3 December during the competition period.


    b. Each winner will win ONE Cash prize of R100,000.00


    c. Winners will be contacted on the number from which the entry was received, within 3 days of the draw date. If the Promoter is unable to contact the selected winner/s after three telephonic attempts within the 3-day period, the winner will be disqualified, and a substitute winner, may at the discretion of the Promoter be selected, using the same random draw process.


    d. Timelines stated by the Promoter/Promoters’ Agent must be adhered to. Failing adherence to any timeline, at any stage, will result in disqualification and forfeiture of the Prize in its entirety with no compensation to any party.


    e. Prizes will only be awarded after successful verification of winners. The winner will be required to provide proof of age by way of a valid South African ID card or ID book or driver’s license, valid passport (and visa, where necessary). Failing successful verification of any winner, a substitute winner may be selected, at the discretion of the promoter. Winner verification will only be conducted after winner notification therefore winner notification is not a confirmation of winning.


    f. Participants may not enter using more than one mobile number as the individual is only eligible to win one prize in the Competition.


    g. No person may win or be entitled to win a Cash Prize more than once in this Competition.


    h. All Winners will be announced no later than the 31 January 2019.

  6. Any personal data submitted by you will be used solely in accordance with current South African data protection legislation, the Consumer Protection Act and the Promoters’ respective privacy policies. The promoters may contact you for marketing purposes, on the basis that you will have the election to opt out at each interaction.

  7. The Promoters shall not be responsible for any lost, damaged, delayed, incorrect or incomplete entries for any reason whatsoever. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt. The Promoters shall not be responsible for the failure of any technical element relating to this Promotion that may result in an entry not being successfully submitted.

  8. No applications from agents, third parties, organized groups or applications automatically generated by computer will be accepted. No incomplete or corrupted entries will be accepted. Entries will only be accepted if they comply with all entry instructions.

  9. In the event of a dispute, the Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence shall be entered into.

  10. The Promoter may make media announcements / publications of the names / photographs of winner/s, provided that any winner/s may expressly elect to decline this. The Promoter reserves the right to carry out audits in respect of any winner/s and entries to verify their eligibility and the validity of each entry. The Promoters reserve the right to disqualify any winner if fraud or cheating is suspected.

  11. The Competition rules may be amended by the Promoter at any time during the Competition Period by giving reasonable notification on the Castle lager web page.
